Aim: Understand the warp and weft of Indian ikat
In 2017, the World Craft Council, In association with NIFT, hosted Ties That Bind, a two week online exhibition of ikat textiles from around the world. Shilpa, our founder, was deeply involved in this endeavour and it was so well received that Breakway was asked to create an itinerary for curios students from one of India’s leading fashion institutes.
The itinerary around Hyderabad and Gujarat and included visits to workshops, interaction with artisans and weavers, visits to textile museums, access to private collections, and regional food experiences.
