Breakaway Highlights

Traveler Speak

Have visited India 9 times, mostly in groups, textile tours. Breakaway was the best company for my first time solo travel. (They do group travel also). They found such interesting UNIQUE people/home stays/ hotels for me and the women guides in each city were accomplished interesting people themselves. I never felt alone as Breakaway was in constant touch 24/7. My first solo travel, I was apprehensive, but Breakaway made it the best ever. I am using them again next year. Desert retreat, visited artists homes, visited a home which was featured in Architectural Digest, weaver studio in the desert, village which welcomed me like a celebrity, Bollywood actors home stay, fun drivers w hi I joined me for coffee on the road, meeting a camel owner in the desert….. just brilliant!!!
Jaipur—All excellent Bindu. Thank you from my heart! Jodhpur—Just arrived at Daspan House in Jodhpur. You need to change your tag from “letsbreakaway” to “be blown away”! Yes indeed. All excellent! This place is amazing! (Kaner) For Delhi—-The day was magnificent! Absolutely amazing….and then the textiles at Kamayani…wonderful. the Kamayani “shop” wasn’t a shop but a treasure trove of the most spectacular textiles, and great light in which to photograph them.

You made it special for each one of us, Manish! I couldn’t have thought, imagined this one without the finesse, detail, perfection you ingrain into every level with so much ease! Thanks Let’s Breakaway…. 🥂here’s to many more… soonest! Bindu, thanks for being the eye & ear 24 x 7, easier when it’s not remote but you did it with aplomb. So grateful for all the friendships I have made this trip Cherish each one of you
Molshri Varanasi Textile, India (Nov 2024)
I recently participated in a several-day textile tour organized by Breakaway in and around Calcutta. Since I myself weave, it was an incredible experience for me to be able to meet and share my experiences with many designers and creators, and to see artists and artisans at work. The scale of the places visited ranged from quite simple, hidden rural workshops to workshops with museum-quality pieces or a salon of internationally famous designer.
Walks through natural forests, the paths of Sim’s Park with novel trees, the Pomological Station and tea estates; breathing in fresh mountain air tinged with the fragrance of eucalyptus, garden flowers and tea factories; taking vistas of mountains, sky, forests and tea gardens; savouring chocolates at Moddy’s and varki at the bakery, and tea tasting and a memorable 'tea dinner' at Teanest; learning of tea production at Benchmark tea factory… and more was possible thanks to the very well organized tour by Breakway. From Coimbatore airport pick-up to drop by Praveen an excellent, courteous and helpful driver, the four days trip was most comfortable and enjoyable as it was very well planned and Bindu was discreetly coordinating it throughout. Thank you!
Brinda & Satyajit Gill, India (April 2022)
Thank you so much for the wonderful textile and craft trail Breakaway organized. We had a wonderful time meeting the artists and weavers and they were incredibly welcoming and enthusiastic. Sonal was an amazing facilitator, she was so open about sharing her experiences at the grassroots and was a storehouse of information. She gave us a context before we visited the artisans and it helped us understand the craft and helped us situate it in a social context. She was very patient and helpful and we enjoyed getting to know her through the course of the trip. For some of the ladies on this trip, it was the first time they were stepping out without their families, and for them the experience has been especially fantastic, we had an excellent facilitator, met great artisans and felt very well taken care of. Thank you so much once again. We loved our stay in Loharu House, the rooms were clean and cozy and the staff was very accommodating.
Sushmitha, India (Feb 2020)
