Heritage Walk for the Visually Impaired: A Sensory Journey Through Inclusive Delhi (04 December 2025)
Where history can be touched, heard, and felt. This inclusive experience is specially curated for persons with visual disability and open to all, offering a way to explore Delhi beyond sight. The walk reveals a city that is intimate, textured, and alive with stories.
Built through partnerships that celebrate access and shared heritage, each experience invites you to pause, connect, and discover Delhi in ways that move beyond the guidebook. Through touch, sound, and narration, history unfolds across spaces where community, culture, and memory meet.
What to Expect
As you move through Delhi’s cultural and historic sites, you will encounter heritage through touch, sound, and guided narration. Sculptural forms, architectural surfaces, and tactile replicas create a hands-on way to understand spaces that are usually experienced visually.
Ambient soundscapes, open courtyards, memorial rhythms, and the presence of live craft environments (where possible) deepen each moment. The experience transforms familiar landmarks and museums into immersive journeys that invite new ways of sensing the city.
What This Experience Includes
- Anubhav Gallery, National Museum: Explore a tactile gallery where replicas of ancient artifacts come alive through touch and guided narration, creating a hands-on journey into India’s civilizational heritage.
- India Gate and Central Vista: Experience the solid form of the national war memorial by tracing its engraved names and sensing the open-air rhythm and atmosphere that define this historic stretch.
- Craft Museum (Partially Accessible): Discover India’s craft traditions through tactile samples of textiles, wood, and metal, with opportunities to engage with artisans and experience hands-on clay modeling where possible.
- Lotus Temple, Baháʼí House of Worship: Connect with the calm geometry and meditative stillness of this architectural landmark through guided narration and ambient sounds that highlight its spiritual essence.

Breakaway: Experiences Beyond the Ordinary
At Breakaway, we believe that heritage is most meaningful when it is accessible to all. The Heritage Walk for the Visually Impaired transforms Delhi’s visual narratives into sensory encounters through touch, sound, and storytelling, making the city’s stories of empire, art, craft, and faith truly inclusive.
By creating experiences that prioritise connection over observation, the walk invites participants to engage with history in ways that are personal, grounded, and deeply immersive. Through careful curation, thoughtful narration, and environments that encourage exploration, it opens pathways to understanding a city not only as it looks but as it feels, sounds, and lives in the present moment, ensuring that everyone has a place within its heritage.
